About North & Narrow

A Proverbs-aligned path for daily wisdom.

North & Narrow is a Scripture-first program that walks through Proverbs in 31 days, helping you translate timeless wisdom into small, measurable steps in modern life.

What is Proverbs?

Proverbs is a book of short, vivid sayings that train us in wisdom — how to speak, work, relate, plan, and choose the right path. It is part of the wisdom literature of Scripture and has 31 chapters, which makes it well-suited for a day-of-the-month rhythm.

The book is woven from several collections: a father’s addresses to a son, sayings of Solomon, sayings of the wise, and later additions. It speaks in plain contrasts: wise vs. foolish, straight vs. crooked, diligent vs. lazy, truthful vs. deceptive.

In this program, we use Proverbs not as random verses, but as a structured training manual for daily life.

How the 31-day rhythm works

North & Narrow follows a simple pattern: the day of the month matches the chapter of Proverbs. Day 3 is Proverbs 3, day 14 is Proverbs 14, and so on.

1. Scripture & Explanation

Each session begins with selected KJV verses from that chapter and a short explanation of what they mean in context.

2. Bridge & Application

A Bridge section connects the text directly to daily life — then Application bullets show specific areas where this wisdom shows up (speech, work, money, relationships).

3. One SMART Action

Each day offers one clear, doable step (with examples) that can be completed today. Many sessions include Quick / Medium / Deep levels so you can choose your load.

4. Evening Check & Peace

At night, you log whether you did the action and your peace: 0 (unsettled), 1 (mixed), or 2 (settled). Over time, this shows how practice and peace connect.

Some days you may move quickly; others you may sit with the text longer. The aim is consistency and integrity — not speed.

Why other wisdom voices appear

You may occasionally see short notes from historical wisdom traditions such as Aristotle, Confucius, Socratic practice, or the idea of Right Speech. These never replace Scripture or define doctrine. They are used only as comparative lenses to clarify why a practice is wise in real life.

For example, Aristotle often emphasises choosing the fitting action for a situation; Confucius highlights truthful speech with respectful form; Right Speech points to words that are true, helpful, and timely. These echoes simply highlight the same patterns Proverbs already teaches.

Scripture remains the foundation and norm. Comparative notes are deliberately brief, and they are always subordinated to the text itself.

A word about Scripture, prayer, and discernment

North & Narrow is designed to help you slow down, consider Proverbs more carefully, and practise what you see. It is not a replacement for your own Bible, your local church, or the direct work of the Holy Spirit in your life.

All summaries, explanations, and comparative notes in this program are generated with the help of modern technology and may reflect limitations or bias. We aim to be faithful and clear, but our words are not infallible and should never be treated as the final authority.

We strongly encourage you to:

  • Read the full chapter in your own Bible alongside any session here.
  • Pray and ask the Holy Spirit for understanding, conviction, and guidance.
  • Measure every explanation and application against Scripture itself.
  • Seek wise counsel from trusted believers, pastors, or mentors as you apply these things.

This program is intended as a supplemental guide — a tool to help you consider and apply God’s Word — not as a stand-alone or ultimate source of truth. Your final trust and obedience belong to the Lord and to His Word.

Who North & Narrow is for

This program is designed for adults who want to live wisely in the middle of real responsibilities — work, family, money pressures, decisions, and relationships.

  • People who want to move beyond only reading Scripture to actually walking it each day.
  • Those who prefer small, honest steps over big emotional spikes.
  • Leaders and servants who need wisdom in speech, work, planning, and care for others.

You do not need a perfect record to use this. You need a willingness to be taught, to act on what you see, and to tell the truth about where you are.

How to start

If this is your first time, start with Today’s session and let the rhythm carry you:

  • Open Today and read the Scripture and Explanation.
  • Notice the Application and Today’s Action; choose the level you can actually do.
  • Complete one small step before the day ends.
  • Tonight, log whether you did it and your peace 0/1/2.

Over 31 days, you will see themes repeat and deepen: speech, work, money, relationships, planning, integrity, and mercy.
